Emptying oneself

Purify yourself first

Some spiritual teachings advise their followers to empty their minds, claiming that in this receptive and passive state they will receive the divine presence. No, this is a dangerous method that we do not recommend. When you are passive, there is no certainty that what you receive will be the Divinity: rather, it will be negative entities from the invisible world which, seeing a person so weak and unprotected, are delighted to find a place in which to settle.
Those who open themselves up to emptiness without first putting in motion the active principle to set about working to clean and purify, are at the mercy of the worst of entities. People empty themselves thinking that the Holy Spirit will come. Someone will come, to be sure, but not the Holy Spirit—what will come are devils. The Holy Spirit does not come to a swamp, it comes to a dwelling made pure and bright for its arrival.
