To the questions we ask ourselves when we are being tested lie within us
March 17th 2012
Parents who watch their child die will ask themselves, ‘But why?’ What comfort can they find in the words of the priest or the pastor who replies that ‘it is God’s will’? Was it really God’s will that their child should become ill and die? Was it God who wanted their son to kill himself in a road accident one evening, after drinking too much with his friends? Was it God who wanted their child to take drugs or commit suicide?
We can understand that in their distress men and women seek answers from the church, as well as from doctors and psychologists. The replies they receive will depend on the quality of those they question. But what they should know is that at times of great trial the real answers lie within themselves. So, while they continue to question other people if they need to, they should make the effort to turn within and look into their own soul and spirit. The only answers that can bring them peace will be the ones they obtain by questioning the Divinity that lives within them.
