Annual cycle of vegetation, the
Teaches us about the secrets of life, death and resurrection

Each sign of the Zodiac is a stage in the slow transformation of nature during a full year.
When the sun enters the sign of Aries, it is the beginning of spring, the gushing forth of energies, and the bursting open of buds. This surge continues in Taurus and Gemini with the blossoming of leaves and flowers. Summer starts with the constellation of Cancer when the seed is formed; then the fruit ripens (constellation of Leo). Once it is ripened, we harvest it (constellation of Virgo). Then comes autumn (signs of Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius), and we harvest the last fruits, the leaves fall, and vegetation dies and decomposes. At last comes winter (signs of Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces), as the seed is buried in the ground where it dies and is absorbed into the earth. But it is from this death that new seeds will be born, emerge and blossom anew. This is how the cycle of vegetation teaches us the secrets of life, death and resurrection.
